Backstage with Mike and Katie
As already promised in our review of Friday's concert here is our story about meeting Mike Batt and Katie Melua.
After the concert we looked around and suddenly we noticed that Mike Batt was standing only a few meters away from us.
We didn't hesitate and walked towards him and asked him kindly if we could take a picture.
He told us that he had not that many time but kindly agreed and took his time anyway for us.
He posed for some pictures and also gave us his autograph and then we said goodbye.
This goodbye was not for long because shortly after that we saw Alice from AW Promotions talking to 2 guys.
When she saw us she was surprised to see us because we had told her the night before that we only were going
to see Katie on Thursday but she was very pleased that we had come again.
She told us that the 2 guys had won a competition on Bol.com and that they were going backstage for a Meet and Greet.
Without asking for it she kindly offered to try and see if we could shake Katie's hand as well.
That was the least we had expected and how she did it is still a mystery but within a minute she returned and asked us
(Ruud and Lenie because Ronald couldn't make it this night) please come with me!!!!
Behind the stage they had created some dressing rooms for all the artists who performed in this Nile venue and we also
spotted Al Green there.
First of all Alice introduced us to Mike Batt, not knowing that we had met him a few minutes earlier, and she told him that we
were from the Dutch fansite. He asked immediately if we were linked at Katie's own site and Alice told him that we were
linked onto the site of AW and AW to that of Katie's. He thought it would be a good idea to work a bit closer together.
We off course agreed with that.
{mosimage} After some more talking with Mike about the 2 concerts Katie walked out of the
dressing room and greeted the 2 guys who had brought her, as far as we could
see, a self made cd probably with there own music on it.
After this Katie approached us with a long "Hiiiiii" as if she said yes I do remember
you. First we gave her some compliments for the show and said that the whole
atmosphere of this gig was better than the night before with almost only vips
present. She agreed with that and told us that this kind of audience cannot make
a real concert atmosphere.
After taking some pictures she asked us if we would like to have a autograph and she grabbed the pencil and started
signing right away. Yes after all it was not a bad idea to attend Friday's concert as well because I can't think of
anybody who would have want to miss this chance.
Offcourse our thanks not only to Katie, Mike and her tour manager but certainly to Alice who made this all possible.
Thanks Alice !!!!!!!
